Dubner &amp; Levitt clarify in the opening pages that the book has no overarching message. However, two guide readers through several unique cast studies\u2014this in itself a masterclass on economic &amp; first-principles thinking.<\/p>\n<h4>How I Discovered It<\/h4>\n<p id=\"d7a0f288-81d2-4aaa-815c-7988350b06cc\" class=\"\">I was researching books to read to better understand economics and stumbled on this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topuniversities.com\/courses\/economics-econometrics\/7-books-read-if-youre-economics-student\"><u>page<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Who Should Read It?<\/h4>\n<p id=\"ac44c146-a049-49a2-aab5-62c6c68bef7e\" class=\"\">Freakonomics is a must-read for anyone who wants to improve their critical thinking skills and learn to question the conventional (and often incorrect) wisdom that puppeteers our daily lives. (8) all other explanations, e.g., capital-punishment and gun-buybacks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul id=\"9428bf9a-e265-4387-9f85-f7e4fd08c228\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>However, none of these are the actual explanation for the sudden and large reduction<br><ul id=\"caffd344-b882-45d3-a588-a8adcf5de0d8\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>Policing strategies were implemented after the drop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul id=\"abb25041-3665-45f0-8ed1-57cb7f33334a\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>The stronger economy has no statistical correlation with the decline in crime rates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul id=\"fa2b44e6-48bb-49ef-a042-2911c25c8cd7\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>Gun control laws can not account for black markets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul id=\"06e07995-7433-48b1-a0cf-672169af313c\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>The aging population cannot account for a swift change in crime rates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul id=\"0622924d-1ec6-4ddc-8514-aecd969abc4c\" class=\"bulleted-list\">\n<li>Reasons 5, 6, &amp;
